UPDATE: It appears the “mistake” at the Oklahoma City theater was not an isolated incident…from An American Carol :

“We have had heard from numerous people across the country that there has been some ticket fraud when buying a ticket for An American Carol this past weekend.

“Please check your ticket. If you were in fact one of those people that were “mistakenly” sold a ticket for another movie please fill out the form below. Hold on to your ticket so we can have proof.

“If you have noticed other irregularities with the theatres in your area please let us know in the comment section below. For instance, Rated R film rating (when in fact we are rated PG-13), posters not being up, not being listed on the marquee, image or focus problems, sound issues, etc.

“Please email us a picture of your ticket stub to fraud@americancarol.com

“We are investigating.”

This week’s “Green Country Roads” went a little further than usual – out of Green Country, over to Oklahoma City, to a convention of conservative and liberty-minded political activists and bloggers from all over Oklahoma (and one special guest from Kansas). After we got the “serious” business out of the way, several of us went to the Dickinson Penn Square 10 in OKC to watch An American Carol).

The movie was great, but something interesting happened at the theater. Okie Campaigns tells the story:

“While in line to gets our Tickets, Jenn saw that the movie rating for an ‘An American Carol’ was posted as a ‘R’ rating and NOT PG as it should have been !

“When I ask the lady selling Tickets about it, all she could say was ‘that they ran out of PG signs’, talk about a lame come back !

“I know a lot of people that will NOT see a ‘R’ rated movie, but, will see ‘PG’ rated movie.

“Now was this a just a goof up by the staff, or did they try to discourage people from seeing the movie ?…(more)”

The lady selling tickets just really didn’t seem to care about her job, so it’s hard to know what the theater’s intention was – But there certainly didn’t seem to be a sense of urgency to fix the problems, and they were obviously aware of the incorrect rating. By the time the movie was over, at least the lower “R” had been taken down, although the more visible “R Warning” sign was still up.
