Dan Boren Once Again Under Fire from “Progressives”

Posted in GCV - Heritage of America, GCV - U.S. News by Jenn on July 24, 2008

Twenty-four members of the U.S. Congress, including Oklahomans Mary Fallin (R) and Dan Boren (D) are co-sponsoring a bi-partisan bill (H.R. 1358):

Honoring the life of the Reverend Billy Graham on the occasion of his 90th birthday and recognizing his decades of public service and his commitment to furthering the faith of Christians around the world.

Dan Boren is being criticized for violating the radical Left-Wing’s alternate interpretation of the first amendment. The folks that are seeking a nation free from religion, reject the literal interpretation of the Constitution which is worded to protect the Church from interference by the State, and have re-interpreted the amendment to enforce their right to go about their daily lives without ever having to encounter religion in any public place.

This is the second time Dan Boren has been at odds recently with the “Progressive” far-left wing of his party. Last month, he declared Obama “too liberal for the his (Boren’s) District,” and declined to endorse the presumtive nominee for president. He has since clarified that he will vote Democratic in the general election, but still has not endorsed Obama.

For an amusing read, check out the Irregular Times’ detailed score for Dan Boren, as they compare is “progressive” record against his “regressive (conservative)” record. Hmm…Seems Dan might not be as liberal as much of the rest of his party would like for him to be.

Wow. You must be pretty far off to the right not to accept the standard reading of the First Amendment, which is that the First Amendment bars Congress from making any law regarding an establishment of religion.

The resolution Dan Boren cosponsored clearly falls into this category, and is unconstitutional, as well as unnecessary.

Of course, you’ve got the logo on this web site indicating that you want to ban the Associated Press, and identify yourself as “as a Christian conservative”, so I guess we can see where you stand… not quite in the mainstream.

Dan Boren is accustomed being a tool for right wing conservatives. He’s 10 times worse than his father ever was.

    Hi, Tracking2008.

Actually, I’m boycotting the A.P., not seeking to ban them (big difference). This commendation of Billy Graham is not an “establishment of religion” by any stretch of any rational-thinking person’s imagination. They only people up in arms over it are atheist activists, who want to make this country a secular, humanist nation, like France. And how’s that working out for them? France is about to fall to radical Islam. Well, you know what they say: If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.

I’m not sure what your definition of “mainstream” is, but Christians still make up somewhere between 78-83% (depending on the polling source) of this country.

And, yeah, I’m “pretty far off to the right.” I much prefer to be right than to be wrong. ;-)
