Today’s Vocabulary Lesson: ‘Hispanic’ ≠ ‘Illegal Immigrant’
There is a pathetic victimization piece in NewsOK today, called, “State Hispanics may play key role at polls.”
May play a key roll? Of course they play a key roll – assuming they are American citizens and registered to vote. Hispanic citizens will play as important a roll at the polls as Americans from any other ethnic group. You see, in America, we vote as individuals. It’s a beautiful thing.
The point of the propaganda in The Oklahoman was that there is a movement to get Hispanic citizens registered to vote, and non-citizens naturalized so they can vote in future elections, and fight measures like HB1804.
The point that is missed is that measures like HB1804 are not aimed to marginalize Hispanic Americans. These legislative measures are aimed toward protecting the United States from being invaded by people (of any ethnic or national origin) who are not at all interested in becoming Americans, or living according to the laws of the United States. Strengthening the law is meant to help keep anti-Americans from bankrupting the Oklahoma economy.
It’s time for a vocabulary lesson, apparently, over at The Oklahoman. The term “Hispanic,” my dear friends is not synonymous with “Illegal Immigrant.”
